We had a couple visitors today, on a cool drizzly first day of Fall.

I drug out the big glass because it was so dark out today.

Nice to see those beautiful birds Phil, we don’t get any of those here where I live. Except maybe one Anna’s flyby in the spring and that’s it. Nice photos that lens is amazing

We have a variety of woodpeckers in the west Puget Sound area. A few years ago a pair of northern flickers made a nest cavity in a Douglas fir snag in the yard and raised three chicks.

We also have pileated woodpeckers, such as dad with junior here.

I thought I would share this here since we all share the same interest in our back yard birds and critters.
For many here it is nothing new but for me I was very excited to be chosen for the National Audubon Society Bird from Home gallery.
Our backyard Quail is towards the top sharing the stage with a White-crowned Sparrow.

This one dropped in and took one of my little birdies at the feeder while I was watching from a blind. I first thought it was a Sharp-shinned hawk due to smaller size and Square tail but I am uncertain now after staring at it for an hour.

Merlin App and the Cornell website would suggest it is an immature sharp shin

Looked up to see a couple of Mule Deer out in the yard browsing on willow branches, grabbed my camera and slid open the window to see this little guy staring back at me.

I got home from work tonight and saw this Wilson's Warbler on our back deck. I had to shoot through a sliding glass door but I think it turned out okay. Warbler migration can be interesting in Ohio.View attachment 4513
