Nice Dave, it's the other way around here. We have White-breasted Nuthatchs all the time but some years never see Red-Breasted

I observe the same situation here in the area where I live.

I went back to hike around Corral Lake to view the Rock Wrens without Elmer the doggy. It was very windy but I seen quite a few and some Dark-eyed Juncos today.
Here is a couple of Rock Wrens with the D850, 200-500mm handheld and cropped in post processing

The Red Crossbills have been hanging around a lot lately including this young male with his splotchy colors. I sure hope they make an appearance next spring in full breeding colors, though I like the way his colors work with the autumn background.

I came across these Horned Larks by the side of a dirt road early one morning as I was out scouting Sage Grouse leks. There a couple of dozen of these guys hopping around the brush and hanging out by the roadside.

Blue-headed Vireo, I usually can only get belly shots of these birds. Seems like they are always high up in the trees. I had to shoot this at ISO 3200. I don't really like to shoot that high but maybe it's not too bad. I can't really see much noise but I'm sure that I have lost detail.

And then there was the rose-breasted grosbeak that appeared immediately outside my office window to feed on the seedpods of a jewelweed growing against the house. I would have liked to get more of the bird in the picture, but it was too close. (Darn the luck!)
