Good evening all,
Just joined the forum. My name is John from Bolton, United Kingdom. I mainly shoot wildlife and nature and love bird photography. I am currently shooting with the Nikon D850.
Here is a recent image of a blue tit
I never really bothered with DX mode on my D850 but I am now realising that on the Z9 it is a much more compelling proposition that I am now using a lot and loving.
Z9 specific advantages:
1. Viewfinder and screen displays are automatically zoomed in so DX mode fills the visible frame
2. Small...
The pairs of great crested grebes on the former quarry pond are currently in the nest-building phase and are not at all enthusiastic when a rival tries to interfere. There can be fierce fighting.

Hi All,
Whether you are focused on wildlife or BIF, what location in the U.S. provides you with both diverse and abundant targets in natural settings? I totally understand if you focus on one kind of bird such as Osprey or Bald Eagles, but what if a photographer wants to photograph many species...
I was at the Okefenokee last week and on the water early in the morning. We were treated to little blue herons leaving their roost and flying over Billy's lake with the faint light of sunrise and some beautiful colors. I'm calling it a landscape - but it did have 47 little blue herons as the...
Hello there.
I am an aspiring wildlife photographer based in Denmark. I currently shoot with a Canon 77d, but right now I am finding that the ISO capabilities of the camera is holding me back. I use a 100-400 MK II for all my wildlife photography. The issue is the fact that a lot of wildlife...
I thought I would share two pictures today, both taken 30/5/21 in my back garden (Shoeburyness, UK). The Blue Tits are busy feeding an unknown number of young and keeping the nest clean (2nd shot).
D500 with Sigma 150-600C on the front - 1/3200 f6.3 auto-ISO one at 3200 and the other 5600...
This Blue Tit was zipping around this tree loaded with catkins finding some early morning breakfast Sunday, 18 Apr.
D500 150-600C (at 600) s640 f6.3 auto-ISO900 with minor adjustments in LR/PS.
Hello,
I'm planning on spending a couple of months in Florida and would appreciate your thoughts on the best locations to observe and photograph wildlife. I've been there many times for various reasons, and have enjoyed visiting both west and east coasts. Last year, I enjoyed a couple of weeks...
Hi all,
A small collection of shots taken off the back porch. I back up to state trust land and we do not have a fence... so... we get all the desert wildlife traversing the property. Sometimes, this is awesome, and some times at 2am, the javelina pay a visit and break pots and eat our plants...
After having reviewed some of Steve's videos and books I went back to the field. I followed an Egret for a few day and hung out for a while. I was able to get pretty close by crawling on my belly on the semi-wet ground ( bit of mud here and there) and not spook the bird two days in a row.
I...
One morning in Samburu (Kenya) this cheetah crossed our path. It was clear it was looking for prey. As cheetahs try to find an elevated spot from which they have a good overview in the bush, we anticipated it would go to the only elevated landmark we could see, drove there and waited for her...
Hey guys, My current wildlife setup is a Nikon D850 with a sigma sports 150-600mm and a 1.4tc. I generally do long day hikes and I’m finding lugging the sigma lens is becoming more of a burden then an enjoyment. Once it’s mounted and I’m snapping away it’s a joy to use but the long walks and...
