appreachate ya'll..

Gordon, this thread exemplifies everything that a welcoming community really should try to achieve. There is respect, no matter one's level of expertise. There is a sincere desire to help in a constructive manner. And for me, there is always an expectation of learning something and looking forward to seeing what others are interested in talking about. The key, I think, starts with Steve and Rose. And the unrivaled respect anyone has for them. We, at least I, would not want to say anything that would be interpreted as combative or offensive in their community. This is not the case in many photography forums. And then, it is the people who join. I can't say thank you enough.

All I know is that I'm blown away with all the kind, knowledgeable people who post here. When we started this, we were concerned about - and even expected - troublemakers, but that really hasn't been the case. In fact, I think there has been only four or five reported posts since with start this a few months back! That's unbelievable to me. I think this forum hit the jackpot with great members and I'll do my best to keep it that way as it grows.
I have followed you for a couple years. Get up in your neck of the woods quite often. Started by watching your videos then bought 2 of your books. I enjoy your casual style and real knowledge. Thank you and EVERYONE here for a great experience. I too hope we can all shot together someday. I can't afford a African trip but maybe you can after the madness maybe do some local trips. Sorry never hurts to dream. Lol. Anyway thank you and everyone. Im a member of another forum you belong to and it is not close to being so kind.

I've been thinking lately how much fun this site and has been for me and how much I enjoy the people here... and of course the things I have personally learned. I can honestly say that I would enjoy shooting with the majority of the posters on this site... ( I find that to be incredibly rare) Hopefully someday some of us will have the opportunity to do this after the Craziness that is 2020 has faded into the rear view mirror.

So to each and everyone I simply say... Stay safe, and hopefully our paths continue to cross.
I totally agree. There are so many times I think I got something and I don't. It's usually already been a topic or I post my question and answered come quick. Usually it's something simple that I missed or something that I'm not sure where to find it in one of the three books I bought of Steves'. I shot an indoor rodeo last weekend. No lights hardly whatsoever. With my d500 at 6400 ISO it still wanted more. I allowed them to be underexposed to 6400 and when I ran them through Lightroom a lot of them were the horse would take the rider into a sun ray actually came out acceptable. before reading those books are looking on this forum I never would have tried 6400 cuz I would have thought it was just going to be trash.

Personally I have used Steves site for a couple of years now and always found it very useful and informative. I echo Gordons comments at the start of this thread about these forums. They may have only been going a relatively short time but they are brilliant and full of great like minded people from all over the world. I find this truly refreshing in these crazy times. Its a little sanity in amongst all the madness. Keep well everybody and look after you and yours.

I live in North Central Missouri.Macon, Mo to be exact. There are a lot of woods and a lot of lakes around here. I'd be more than happy to meet up with people to shoot with.

Your post made me realize I needed to support this forum :)

Good evening Gordon et all. I've been out of the picture, get it :ROFLMAO: for a wee while as my youngest son was getting married and all that entails in this horrible time but on picking up this thread from Steve's weekly update I came straight here to add what I can.
I've kind of followed Steve for a long time now have all his "stuff" and have not only found it all fantastic for me to develop as a photographer but in coming to this forum and meeting all you guys and then seeing Gordon's post it made me realise that has been a great experience, a learned one, literally and I wholeheartedly agree with Gordon's sentiments and all others that have been expressed here. You guys and gals are a fantastic bunch but the overall thanks and congratulations have to go to Steve. He has been there for me on a number of "doh" moments and kindly and professionally put me back together and onwards, so thank you Steve on a rip roaring success and long may we all continue.

I also participate in another forum, which has had informal photo get-togethers a few times. I was able to attend a couple of them when the meet up was outside Lakeland,Florida at the Circle B Bar Reserve. They were fun and informative and got prople out with their gear in a great spot for wildlife photography.

What it took was someone with local knowledge willing to advise on the location and post about the event, as well as a venue and conversation about when to meet to maximize participation. In other words, just about anyone can start something like this for their favorite spot. I will say that it helps to meet at different places every once in a while to keep interest and participation up.

Of course, we could patronize Steve for some of his paid photo excursions to get the real good stuf; I'll bet he wouldn't mind if some of us started showing up as clients!

Really well said David... (y)

Without this forum and the books and videos, plus the help I've received from other members I probably would have thought that I made a mistake getting a d500 as a first DSLR. I shot film for most of my life but this is a whole different animal in ways. It helps me to understand the coaching but it is totally different with the abilities of these cameras.
