You’d have to do the math, but I can fit a Z9 + FTZ II + 600mm f/4 FL E into the XL ICU (with everything attached). I have a Zemlin short hood on the lens also.
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).
Thanks. If you have a chance to measure that combo exactly that would be great. Looking at the previous measuring tape photo I'm very close to being able to fit but maybe not. I'm needing 55cm or 21 3/4".You’d have to do the math, but I can fit a Z9 + FTZ II + 600mm f/4 FL E into the XL ICU (with everything attached). I have a Zemlin short hood on the lens also.
I use 2 Z9’s with both the 400/2.8 TC and the 600/4TC lens and i always leave the lenses attached to the bodies the only thing to be careful of is when putting the setup in your backpack have the lens pointed down so the majority of the weight is on the lens and not on the mount. I have never had an issue.Hi
interesting post as I'm in the market for a new bag. One thing I'd like to ask, do you carry your big lenses attached to the body whilst in the bag. I was always told to remove my 400mm f2.8 from my z9, but it would be easier to leave it attached.
thanks
It is ShimodaI wanted to add to the discussion I now own both the NYA-EVO 60L bag with the XL ICU and I also own the Shimado Action X70 HD Backpack with there Core Unit XXL DV
IMHO as much as I like the NYA bag it is smaller in size compared to the Shimado, the Shimado can handle more weight, it has more robust straps and padding and of course can hold a Canon R5ll with the RF 600/4 attached with the NYA can’t do.
So on my next upcoming shoot in early December Men’s and Women’s Alpine Downhill races on the days I want to try out the new Canon I will have to use the Shimado bag, and when I decide to break out my Z9’s I will try out the NYA with the 600/4TC attached
keep in mind for my use case I’m carrying a lot of weight on my back when skiing down a icy downhill course and having the right pack is critical to both my safety and comfort

The bag will easily fit my camera/lens with hood reversed but I'd want my super short hood in shooting position for this bag to have value to me over other bags I own.

For travel - separately. For everyday use (and car travel) - body with lens attached. So far so good Thanks God that camera gear is actually quite toughmy personal preference is to always keep the bodies and lenses separate. maybe there's no basis to this, but I'd rather be safe than sorry with ~$20K+ in gear.
that being said, I've recently been lazy and have kept my Z9 + 600TC attached all the time in the bag. knock on wood, nothing bad has happened yet.
I think the next time I travel by air - I will separate the two though with a little divider just for peace of mind
I keep the bodies and lenses separate while traveling. Once I am on location, I'll want to have the bodies connected to the lenses before I start to hike out into the field (especially in harsh environments). Therefore, I want to know that my camera backpack allows me to carry my cameras with the lenses attached, even though I won't always transport my gear that way.my personal preference is to always keep the bodies and lenses separate. maybe there's no basis to this, but I'd rather be safe than sorry with ~$20K+ in gear.

If you are from Europe we had great deals for X70 mark I last year. And if the XL insert is good for you, with which it comes by default. It was about 40 or 50% off list price.I’ve gone for the Shimoda X70 HD, but waiting until the 29th, 20% sale starts
If I were you I would stick with what you haveSo of course the Nya-Evo Black Friday sale just started. 20% off bags, 10% off RCIs. BUT...the XL RCI is now out of stock. Maybe that is a sign that I should just stick with what I have. Sure, 10% off the RCI is not a huge savings but if I jump on the bag now and buy the RCI later at full price I'll be paying another significant shipping charge into Canada.
I'll shoot Nya-EVO an email and see what they say. If they can restock that RCI by the 29th then I may still jump on the 60C/XL combo. Otherwise, maybe next year.
I did email NYA-EVO when I was in the market for the XL RCI, but it was out of stock, and they were able to give me a fairly precise timeframe of when it was going to be available again (which at the time was a couple of weeks out). So I just kept monitoring the inventory and ordered one when it was back in stock again. Their shipping costs to the US are also quite steep, but they provide very fast delivery. So of course the Nya-Evo Black Friday sale just started. 20% off bags, 10% off RCIs. I've emailed them so will see what happens. Some of my friends have had success emailing Nya and having them issue an invoice for both the bag and the XL ICU, and Nya just holds the bag until the ICU is in stock - and then ships them out.
That way you get the full savings, only have to pay for shipping once, and everything arrives at the same time
