Very Cool!!Nankeen Kestrel coming downwind. No crop! Almost caused a total eclipse - it was SO close. Old Canon 7D, 300mm+1.4TC - 1/1,600 @f8. Given the old gear I've filed this one under "Miraculous!"

Thanks Ralph! I had just learned "back focus" and was amazed that I got the camera on the bird. I "bumped" focus like crazy then held everything down. I got 4 sharp head frames. I was in shock!Very Cool!!
Magnificent photo, but are you sure it's an Eagle? The dark feather "girdle" around the body, the "slats" on the forewings, and the tail color could belong to an immature Red Tailed Hawk, according to Sibley. If I am wrong, apoogies!A juvenile Bald Eagle at the Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area, Wayne County, OhioView attachment 1403

Yep..Very nice Neil.
I recognize that tree & pond. I can't tell if these are Harriet or M15, but I do recognize them. They were REALLY busy this season, with two hatch sessions. I saw recently that thy are already working on the nest for the next round! Incredible.
Looks like this will be the 1st year in the last 7 that we have not been able to visit the area. :-/
Fantastic angle, good shotWe saw a Sandhill Crane over the weekend.

Thanks Robin!Superb Snowy Owl...
I know how fast these guys can travel. What country are you in? It looks different to our Nankeen Kestrel (Australia). I once had close encounter (further back in this thread). Took me back to that day. Great capture!First and only shot on a fairly miserable grey day. This kestrel sped past at head height before climbing to hover against the grey sky when I discovered dust on the AF sensor (now sorted thanks to @Steve). Shame about the busy backgroundView attachment 5687
