Really amazing shot! Was admiring the Pale Chanting Goshawk photo and remembered I had this photo from behind our place earlier this year in April.

Thanks!Beautiful, I love the contrast with the field behind him, it really makes him stand out.
yep.. exactly.. I have a few more from that day that I will probably share as well.. thanks!!!That's quite the catch! Looks like you captured the Osprey as he did the head shake, nice!
I love that super extended wing spread. Great capture! One of the first images from my D5. Green Heron.
They indeed can be hard to get a decent capture. I think it is due to the contrasting colors, the camera's meter tends to get confused. If you focus on the dark areas, the whites will be blown out. Focus on the whites, the dark areas are too dark. Plus, the large wing span casts a lot of shadows unless the lighting is just right. Experiment with different metering methods and see which one works best for you.Osprey seem like they should be easy to get a decent photo but i have really struggled to capture a really good image. I'll get there someday. Here is one with a fish he grabbed out of the Frenchman Hills river. I will say he had quite a meal ready and tried hard but a Swainson's hawk left with the bass.
