Gee, thanks DR. I thought this photo was a bit different for a gannet. Most photos of gannets in flight have that airplane look to them and most of mine certainly do. I was very pleased when I saw I had a photo, in focus yet, with the wings stretched forwardAnother beauty Kathy!
Beautiful first image, sharp bird in great light with a very pleasant background blur. Nice image!Just joined and here's my first post. Juvenile Red-tailed Hawk cruising by my window.
Thanks! Luckily I live in a high-rise overlooking a wooded valley which allows me tons of BIF practiceBeautiful first image, sharp bird in great light with a very pleasant background blur. Nice image!

Amazing photography Wade!Great thread, was fun to peruse through them all. A few of mine:
scissor tail fly catcher
D3s 500 f4G VR with 1.4 tc handheld
Nikon D70 200-400 f4 VR with 1.7 tc on a tripod way back in 2005, 1/400 at f6.7 @ 680mm gave just the right amount of wing blur landing at the nest.
Nikon D300 with 1.7 tc, 200-400VR, tripod, I call this “in flight sushi“. Big crop, near 70%. Yes, I own an abnormally great 200-400 VR1 compared to most, one reason why I did not buy my 500VR G until 2008, and I still use my old 200-400vr 1 from 2005 as my compact grab and go.
snowy owl, D3s, 500 VR f4 with 1.4 tc, hand held, panned shot do not recall shutter speed, but was low, high iso, near sunset, very dark, wild bird, not baited. 8 hours looking, locating and waiting after a 5 hour journey throughout Missouri.
That's awesome the colors of that Coho really work against the Osprey. Look at the eyes on that bird, he's almost screaming 'Look What I Caught'. That's Awesome!Sometimes you know you've got too much lens but you keep shooting anyway.
