Capture One, Luminar Neo, DXO, Affinity,... which Adobe alternative do you use?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

When there is a change in direction, sometimes one needs to think through decisions. And so, a little while ago in this thread, I posted the following:

I'm sticking with PS & LR and Adobe's Photographers Plan. It's a good deal for me, and it's what I know and am comfortable with.

After discussions, it became evident that I was stuck in my old ways (Go Figure, I'm long in the tooth) and needed further investigation. Earlier this week, I decided to try DigiKam (https://www.digikam.org) and the Affinity suite. Affinity will certainly replace PS, and DigiKam, at first glance, may be a good replacement for LR.

More to come on DigiKam as Affinity is a go!

I use DxO PL7 and Nik Suite along side and with LrC and PS. They each have features that can complement each other and allow me to reach the outcomes I seek. I shoot a mix of landscape, wildlife, macro and infrared. Each of the above can contribute to my workflow. There are many quality pathways allowing each of us to find one or more that work for us.

Yes, each one of us needs to find his or her path. There is no correct path; the right one is one that we are comfortable with and creates the result that we are pleased with. Hopefully, that makes sense

I've been using the Affinity Suite for about three years.
Price was an issue with PS. I'm not a professional, but from the forums and other online info, including the user support online, the consensus has been strong in its support.
There are three apps in the suite: Photo, Designer, Publisher (currently v.2.5x).
It's not a 1:1 replacement for PS, but for what many who are much better than me in editing, it offers quite a bit. Just my personal opinion.
