Thanks @Ken Miracle for the image. That helps me and others.

Patrick, do you have both screws attached? If so, are you using a reducer on the 3/8 hole to accommodate the second 1/4 screw? The plate I have on the z160-600:is the same Kirk QD plate that I had on the z70-200. Images off the 180-600

I always get a longer foot than the one supplied.Hi
If you were to get a new plate for this, would you go for a 6” or 4.5”.

Yes - I have a reducer in the 3/8"Patrick, do you have both screws attached? If so, are you using a reducer on the 3/8 hole to accommodate the second 1/4 screw?
Not sure who addressed to but 6" is what I would get if I had to buy a new one. For me hand holding and balance on BR strap longer is better if it does not get in the way of the body or the reversed hood and it does not. If someone had it on a tripod longer should also give more options with body, tripod head etc..Hi

Thanks RoyI always get a longer foot than the one supplied.
I put a 120mm (c4.7") foot on my 180-600mm lens.
It leaves a longer range to balance the lens ...![]()

Haven't tried it. They make good stuff so have no doubt the quality will be good. Looks overly complicated. Of course it's a generic solution and not purpose built for this particular lens. I'm not making any moves until RRS/Kirk/Hejnar have a chance to get their products to market. In the interim will get by with my existing inventory of arca swiss plates collected over the years.Has anyone tried this…

Z8 only not Z9 I due to battery. Not sure it would be great with a big telephoto though as no support of the lens.Has anyone tried this…

You are correct not meant for use with a lens like this or other long lenses that are heavier than or close to as heavy as the camera.Z8 only not Z9 I due to battery. Not sure it would be great with a big telephoto though as no support of the lens.
Interesting that your plate is further forward than I need - my lens here is the z180-600

i installed it a bit farther because i found it fit my hand better when carrying. Just a bit more comfortable for me. This is on my 180-600 also.
Patty, I bought a pack of 10 from Amazon.Best place to get the 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 reducer? I'm going to check some of my equipment bags to see if I have one, but does it matter where you get it from? (Never dealt with this before.)
I tried both the z9 and the 8. Both worked perfectly. Is this plate long enough for the lighter weight z8?
Another point of stability and it reduces the likelihood of the base rotating.I have attached a lot of plates to very large lenses such as the 600 f/E over the years and have only used the single primary attachment screw and it always worked with no issue.
So I am puzzled why go through the hassle of getting an adapter and putting in a second screw?
I never had any issue with the plate rotating even back when I was using a wimberly gimbal head on a tripod. And the plates (Wimberly and Really Right Stuff) I used always fit tightly and they were on much heavier lenses than the Z180-600.Another point of stability and it reduces the likelihood of the base rotating.
