That is a lens I’ve honestly never heard of but seems to have great image quality.

With a Smallrig L bracket on my Z8 I have no problem using my near 5 year old FTZ.

A agree an FTZ II is at least 90% a necessity on a Z9.

I’ve held on to my Sigma 150mm macro. I have both the manual and the later image stabilized version. I may sell the manual version. Anyone have any experience with Irix?

Why FTZ and not FTZ II with Z8?

Either one will work. The FTZ II was on my Z9.

I’ve held on to my Sigma 150mm macro. I have both the manual and the later image stabilized version. I may sell the manual version. Anyone have any experience with Irix?

I use the Irix 150mm when I can use a tripod. It is a really good lens.

I don't do macro so much as close ups mostly of flowers. I have been a bit disappointed with the lack of a longer macro lens, I do like the increased working distances. I have the 105 macro. Just this weekend I ordered a close up lens to put on my Z 70-200 f2.8. The MFD with this lens is 19.68 inches. I'll find out how it works sometime this week..

Close up diopters like that typically work quite well. I ran the Canon 500D and similar close up diopters for years on many lenses and they can be a very good macro solution.

The only real downside with a quality close up diopter is you lose far and infinity focus when this is screwed onto the front of your lens. That probably won't be a big deal at all for close up floral work but for things like Butterflies it's annoying when you have that on your lens and a good looking subject lands a couple of feet farther away in a nice setting but the lens will no longer focus at that distance and by the time the accessory lens is removed or I move closer the subject has flown away.
