I like the way a sliver or more of moon can light the foreground and still keep things dark enough to see the Milky Way. Nice image!

Shot May 16th 2020 the night that OBX opened after pandemic… over at 12:01am on Saturday to shoot Milky Way at Bodie Lighthouse. Very clear night and dark night (moon didn't rise till 3:07am) Milky Way visible with naked eye. Felt good to get back shooting and to get back over to my happy place.

Thanks.. it is a stacked photo….in fact my first time stacking… shot with Nikon D750 and Nikon 20mm 1.8G lens…8 photos stacked ..

We had hoped to possibly get some Milky Way before the moon came up, but we did not. I did catch what looks like a falling star at the end of the short exposure though.

A few recent night shots I managed to get here in Central Washington. I have begun experimenting with low level lighting using an LED panel. I have yet to master it but it is fun trying to learn and the coyotes don't seem to mind.
The first 2 were taken with Nikon D850, Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 in the Basalt formations of Columbia Basin in Central Washington and the vertical shot was a D850, Tamron 14-24mm f/2.8 taken a few hundred feet outside our door, the sky was so detailed to naked eyes I had to grab a shot.
All were stacked using SLS to reduce noise and a quick resize in PS 2020 to post here.

I use the iOptron SkuGuider Pro, good results but I’m not sure i’d consider it light & portable. If I was looking again or if a change was needed I would research the Move Shoot Move Star Tracker. Looks very interesting to me. Good luck & dark skies!
