Nikon Rebates?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Crazy. My local camera store went live with the sale but I’m guessing they will revert. I was wondering why it never went live today on Nikon’s site or any of the major retailers. Wild to think the rumor was right and it was set to start today only to be canceled now.

Interesting, I think I found a small store with the rebates live too on their website. I haven't visited their site in a few months, so I can't say for sure if they're old or new.

I know Nikon just had a big refurbished gear sale that wrapped up, but the gear on the refurbished page is currently displaying new prices from the few items I checked.

Can you DM the small store you found? I am looking to get a few items and hoping to find the rebates.

Yes. In the past I have noticed when there are instant rebates that B&H lowers the price of the same items that are being sold used but when the rebates end the prices on the used items go up as well.
I bought my used 200-500 during one of those periods from B&H for $750.

Nikon doesn't seem to do that. I've seen refurbished almost the same price as new at times.

Prices will go up IMO

The real question is if the new pricing will be permanent. In other consumer products, prices went up significantly, and when things went back to normal, the increase in pricing was not reduced significantly at all.

It will be permanent. It always is as a hedge against issues. What will happen is more sales/rebates. So a savvy shopper will pay attention to sales cycles and may need to be more patient to get better pricing.

I don’t think the current USA tariff regime will be permanent, but the timing and duration of change and the long term situation are unknown. Prices on commodities and manufactured goods will therefore be volatile. Global businesses prefer economic stability so wholesale and retail prices will have to increase as a hedge. Another critical question involves consumer demand: How will it be affected? Also unknown.

That's a good question. There are not many professional photographers who truly NEED new camera gear. The vast majority of camera buyers are hobbyists who WANT new gear but don't really NEED new gear. Camera gear for most is a luxury item and when purse strings are tight, luxuries give way to necessities.

Good points. If true, perhaps the market for lightly used and refurbished gear becomes far more vibrant.

Drops like a rock on luxury items
Generally speaking, for consumer goods, demand for luxury goods is less elastic than demand for entry-level goods. Even so, demand for all goods will respond to price increases, sometimes in equal measure by product segment. We’ll see what happens in this situation.

Read the thread and remember the mention of spring rebates, but was not clear from this thread and Thom's article if it was limited to lenses only, and if the 180-600 was slated for a rebate (as I do not recall that lens previously having rebates). And, does anybody know if any bodies were slated for rebates? It may be water under the bridge, but things do seem to be fluid, and I was waiting to see what Nikon pieces of kit might have had rebates.

Durable good are bought regardless. Cameras and lenses etc, drop like a rock compared to those. Of course if you look granular and look at incomes of buyers then only one segment can always buy regardless of prices, just like homes.

You guys are a bad influence. I just ordered a Z50 ii to use as backup for my Z8. Wasn't going to buy another Z8 and for my purpose I'm thinking the frame rate/rolling shutter shouldn't really be an issue for how I will use it. Hopefully it will be the perfect tweener with the Z 100-400 and my Z8 with the 600 PF. At it's current price it was hard to pass up with all the potential future uncertainty.

Nikon often offers rebates and promotions, but the timing can be unpredictable. They sometimes align with major shopping events like Black Friday or other holiday seasons, but there isn’t a strict schedule. It's a good idea to keep an eye on Nikon's official website or sign up for their newsletter for the latest updates. For refurbished products, they tend to be replenished sporadically, usually depending on product returns or overhauls. Checking Nikon's refurbished section regularly or contacting their customer service may give you better insights on availability. Hope this helps!
