Where did you see this info? I’ve heard the same from others, but didn’t see any test results. I saw a video where Ricci said the Delkin Black performed the best, but did not see much else on card performance. I ended up ordering two Delkin Power and two Delkin Black cards. Just preordered the new 160GB Angelbird which is supposed to be fast too. That should be more than enough cards for me.

Thanks for the link. So i was reading through the manual and found something interesting on pg: 600, setting a3: Focus Tracking with Lock-On. Note the portion i highlighted in green box and this could explain "jumpy" AF that Jared was experiencing. This is why customizing another AF area mode to a button (like a Wide-Area S or L) with blocked shot AF response to 4 or 5 will be crucial to avoid the AF box jumping around. Just thinking aloud that's all ;-)

Someone should bring this up with Jared. The guy has been shooting Nikon since the early 2000s. He switched to Sony only in 2018 if I am not wrong. He did say he used af sensitivity 5. Not sure about this one.

I’m not sure it would make a difference to Jared. Plenty of people commented on his video relating to Zii tracking functionality for something he had completely wrong and he never acknowledged them and stated the same incorrect information in a later video. This wasn’t around performance, but how to activate it.

i'm guessing he doesn't take the time to read most responses.

Hmm, I have no idea.
I am waiting for his comprehensive review of the Z9 AF, DR & ISO performance.

He is one of the few ones who puts out a detailed review with footage. The rest are either too diplomatic or useless.

Overall he isn’t a bad reviewer and I have watched more of his stuff in the last couple years than I did previously. He does a lot of things I like regarding the reviews and provides access to RAW files to download and look at; even better that you don’t need to create an account to access.

I think he had to see to the comments, there were so many of them and they were at the top by default. I’ve seen him comment before on other responses. My only assumption can be he didn’t care enough to correct it. I guess my point his you can’t look at him as an only or primary source for the review as he does make mistakes.

I would not buy the Gold cards if you are intending 20FPS and Lossless Compressed. The best value in a top performing card will be the Delkin Power cards. They are almost as fast as the Delkin Black and run almost as cool. As fast as Cobalt and cooler than Cobalt. Only Black runs cooler than Power and not by much. IMO Black are a waste of money over Power but to each their own.

Just got 2 x 325 gig Cobalt cards to cover the very occasional times i need 20 fps

I shoot Jpeg fine 90% of the time.

For less than 20 fps i am happy to use the Pro grade Gold as they are great value.

I don't do video.

The Z9 is turning out to have some real added costs, new cards readers adapter $1500 plus............i think that Nikon has reduced the launch price possibly for that reason as when you add it all up the Nikon is not cheap.

I got my 200-500 for $1350 AUD when first launched now its up there, Nikon will do the same with the Z9.........

Consumers will be more sensitive to on costs costs............on drill down models

Yeah it very well could be.

Realistically the cost of cards are there for most of the recent high speed cameras. The cost of the CFE A cards for the A1 are even worse. I was planning to use my XQD cards for slower paced shooting and in the Z7ii, but decided to replace all of them to avoid having to think about which to use. $1100 later, I now have new cards.

you forgot to consider $220 for a spare battery. 😉

My problem with Jared Polin is that he is polarizing, hyperbolic, everything is basically black and white, when in reality the truth is actually somewhere in between. Sort of like the way politics have become in the last few years everything is one side or the other due to the internet polarizing all subject matter.

He won't be able to even if he wanted to...

It is weird that people think he is foolish! I think most misjudge him.

The following video gives a better idea about what he thinks about Nikon...

Jarrod is very good and always has been, intelligent smart and knows how to work the system as a top rated blogger with sustainability, he is the current generation of adaptability vertically interrogated in the new digital world of media......that's all obvious.

The parasites like U Tube Google etc I tunes that simply take great chunks of revenue out of your earnings will always do so as well as control you...........
Jarrod is an excellent survivor and in his area and very successful.
In my mind comments on forms or segments are obsolete 24 hours later as its just old news.
People don't want to read anymore hence they gravitate to video.
Peoples memory on mass on the web generally is 24 hours if that.

As a reviewer he is not politically correct or sensitive certainly very entertaining and all that's earning him respect............

I watch all his new videos when they arrive from start to finish......that speaks volumes, he is short sharp to the point a modern day Ken Rockwell so to speak.

Its not the rich or large and powerful that always survives its the adaptable.........Jarrod fits the generation.

His product reviews are in practical simple terms in the field realistically spot on......

Steve in this BC is similar......... straight to the point, hands on, sharp fast accurate simple and practical, real world.......

I find Steve and Jarred are my two sources of quick fix, two different generations and styles that both work.

If its deeper then i chat with Thom............The rest are not necessary for me.

I didn't like the interviews and the host especially.........

Looks like the Z9 manual and reference guide are now available for download on the Nikon website.

... pg:600...? It looks like you're in line for a Bachelor of Science degree when you finally finish the manual and master the camera! OTOH, I'll bet most never get that far into the paper manual, using the find/search function of the online manual instead.

I hope Nikon provides checklists for camera settings by subject somewhere in the manual.

It depends on the scene. 3 works ok when there are no background clutters. With busy background 5 has worked wel for me.

One of the best customization options with the Z9 is we can set the track on setting to 3 by default and then use recall shooting functions (RSF) to use a different value like say 5 and assign it to a fn or pv button for an instant override.

So what do you think would be best for birds in flight? 3?
