Although I have been lurking around, for whatever reason, I have not posted much in the past year. In looking at this thread I am amazed at the quality of the photos. Very inspiring to say the least. Kudos to all.

Thanks! I think it might be my favorite picture for all of 2024. It only snowed one day here in 2024 and I waited outside for hours for the bluebird to come and land in the tree (I knew they liked that tree). It was well worth it.

Thank you so much. I didn't have much time to get out and about in 2024, but I brought the camera with when I could.
I have mobility issues was well

The shot was taken at Laguna Seca Ranch which should make getting great shots easy. However, when a Painted Bunting takes off from a perch is always flies away from the hide. I wanted the shot with the bird flying towards me.
I this particular case the bird is taking off from the ground and is at least flying parallel to me. However, the creamy background that occurs with a perch takeoff shot was replaced with ugly yellow spots, so I needed to doctor the background.
In three days this was the only acceptable sequence.
OM-1/300f4 ProCap @ 50 f/s

Although I think you'll find that baby Impala is actually a baby (Thommie) Thompson's Gazelle.
All beautiful shots but that one with the swallow at the surface of the water is awesome
