Hi all.

Lest we forget the Owls, here is the Galapagos Short-eared Owl ( Asio flammeus galapagoensis) found only in the Galapagos Islands.

Beautiful. Very similar colouring to your hawk. Imagine if you'd got trapped in Galapagos because of Covid. It sounds a truly amazing place.

Love the little kestral fellow. We try to promote owls for rodent control. way more effective than poison, but here they're magical birds and the bringer of death so a lot of prejudice. Also the eggs fetch a high price for witchcraft.

Interesting problems to deal with. Here, we have problems with owls and other raptors dying due to eating rodents that have been poisoned. Habitat loss is a huge problem, as well.

Guys, splendid images all of birds we all seem to love and that we all would like to shoot!
Peter, your Bat Hawk is more than 30 years on my list, and it is still on my list!
We have 54 raptors, 16 Falcon, 1 Secretary bird and 12 owl species recorded in Southern Africa as well as the osprey. Many still on my wish list.
Here is one of my favorites - the Lapped-faced vulture
