Selling/trading to MPB - turnaround time?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Well I signed up for a FedEx account, can't say this is much more info:

Your in the summary tracking you should be able to get into advanced shipment tracking and see something like this series of screen shots. You would click on advanced shipment tracking, which takes you to the second screen shot page and then on the tracking ID to take you to the last screen shot page. You will see a place in the last screen shot whre you can add your e mail to stay updated on the shipment.Screenshot 2025-01-01 at 7.57.10 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-01-01 at 8.00.16 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-01-01 at 8.00.49 PM.pngWell I signed up for a FedEx account, can't say this is much more info:

Thanks for your help, Ken, but maybe I'm doing something wrong? I followed your instructions and I get this:

Hard to know without watching what is happening from the start but it looks like you had not entered any tracking numbers into tracking ID since you set up the account. You can do that from the spy glass at this point or back at the first stage where in the tracking ID box. I hope that tomorrow it will be a moot point and MPB can track it down.

Most likely. I'm just glad it was located, kind of a lot of money in that shipment!
Why I track all shipments from or to me from fedex or ups and request updates from them. One big hiccup for me years ago related to a lens rentals shipment that took weeks to resolve and lens rentals was good at canceling the order and refunding my payment so I could buy the lens elsewhere in time for a trip I was going to take. It turned out that UPS had the correct address but routed it wrong. What should have taken 4 days was a 5 week journey. About 2 weeks after Lens Rentals had refunded my payment lens rentals said that their tracking said it was out for delivery and it showed up here and they e mailde me a pre paid shipping label to send it back to them. Annoying for me and costly for lens rentrals.

I traded 4 F mount lenses I wasn’t using, in mid-December. The only communication I received was that I’d under-rated them and they were giving me more in trade. Next thing I knew (less than a week later) my new gear arrived. So, not so great communication, but quick and I believe honest service.

Hang in there. I've sold (and bought) from MPB a few times in past year and all went very well.

Oddly I'm in the same boat (well similar). I shipped three lenses to sell and will be purchasing a lens, all in same transaction. FedEx delivered on Monday (23rd). Received confirmation from MPB same day stating "Your gear has arrived" and they would be checking it over. Given holidays, followed up on Monday (12/30) and was told it was still to be looked at. Chatted with someone on the 2nd and they admitted they were a bit overwhelmed with incoming items. In their words:

We genuinely apologize for the delay and understand how frustrating it can be. Our team is experiencing delays due to a high volume of equipment to check. Our Product Specialist Team checks gear in the order in which it's received by MPB and they will be working extended hours to get through the high volume of equipment as quickly as possible.

I think all will be fine. A lot of people selling camera gear this time of year.

I used MPB to sell an older Pentax system and Olympus setup this fall that was just sitting on the shelf, probably 20 lenses and 2 camera bodies in one shipment. Everything went well except one lens that had fungus that I didn't see in it, which was a weather sealed Pentax DA* lens so somewhere along the line it had moisture in it for a while. I have everything in a dry cabinet now. But MPB upvalued a few I rated lower than they had and everything went smoothly. You can for sure make more if you sell individually on your own but they offered a pretty fair price on most of the items, the third party lenses probably could fetch a lot more sold by themselves but I wasn't about to make 20 runs to the UPS store and all that hassle so MPB worked really well.

They also gave me way more than I would have expected for some older point and shoot cameras that were a decade old.

Now I have just Nikon F and Z in the house and not having to remember 4 cameras menu systems is way easier.
