Woke up to fresh snow and noticed this Red Breasted Nuthatch repeatedly perching on our crab apple tree for a while before zipping over to a feeder picking up one seed and heading into the bushes with it. Headed out into the cold, set up a ladder on the porch and sure enough a couple of minutes later he repeated the lap and kept doing it for an hour or more.

Do woodpeckers count? I took the 500pf out for a walk today for the very first time and met those 2 little guys as they were peeling bark away on river birches. Nothing fancy because of all the branches in the way but I really enjoyed the portability of the D500 + 500pf

Works for me :) Nice shots!

Here's another from today, most of the fresh snow had melted off the branches by the time this Mountain Chickadee came in for some portraits on the way to the feeder. I liked the white on bright look of the image.

Had a family of Superb Fairy Wrens around the yard this afternoon, no need to move more than 3 metres from the front door.
