Thanks much; appreciate the kind words. Not sure how it could be better. Such a beautiful composition - a real challenge to get all that white on white so beautifully. Spectacular.
Thanks much!Thats a really beautiful shot!
Thank you, Bruce! So artfully done! Wow.
Thanks much. I had not noticed the 'gift' of some cloud in the sky, and the mirroring of the tones there with those of the ice and fox, until I was processing the shot. Luck, but I'll take itOutstanding image, Steven! I love the play of light and shadow and the camouflage of the fox!
Thank you!Congratulations, really a beautiful picture![]()
Thanks much, John.Wow! Awesome shot.
Simply stunning StevenI silently begged this fox to look back. She did; click! She's climbing through the ice 'rubble' at the base of an iceberg trapped in the sea ice of Baffin Bay, off the coast of Baffin Island, Nunavut (latitude about 72 degrees 42 minutes North). We were at the iceberg to get ice for melting for our water; our camp on the sea ice nearby.

Thanks, Tony!Truly sensational photo! Congratulations!
Thanks much, Amy.Fantastic image! Wow!
Thanks much! This fox apparently had built her den about two thirds the way up the iceberg (the base of which where this shot was taken) stuck in the sea ice. She popped in and out of it a couple of times while we watched. We saw a pair of arctic fox running across the flat expanse of sea ice, couple kms from shore, begging the question, how the heck do they survive (they'd be hunting seal cubs we were told), especially in winter with total darkness....Amazing shot! Perfectly shows the harsh environment some animals endure!
Thank you, Gordon!Simply stunning Steven![]()

Thanks! And yes, re foxes. It was taken as blasphemy when I told my travel mates that I was likely happier to see (photograph) Arctic Foxes than Polar BearsAbsolutely beautiful photo! Foxes are my favorite, so this one really resonates with me. Well done!!
What an amazing example of the privilege afforded by nature to see such specialised adaptions to their environment.Thanks. I was 'alone' with the fox for several minutes -- very special, indeed -- the other cameras were all on the other end of the iceberg and ultimately 'chased' her toward me, she appeared among the ice rubble as shot here; another shot not yet processed of her simply sitting, resting, looking my way. Saw other foxes on other iceberges; almost certainly one had her den dug in the ice up the side of the 'berg. Another pair we spotted running across the ice. Unbelievable existence -- how the heck do they survive out there in the total dark of winter....
