Great Shot Dave! Was out walking the dog mid-morning when I came across some active Red Winged Blackbirds by a local marsh and was lucky to have this guy fly right past us showing off his colors. Light was a bit harsh on this sunny day but I'm happy with how this came out.

Yeah, I've been trying for a while without much success. This one I found perched on a cattail and just focused on him in Group AF and just waited. It took about five minutes for him to fly off and luckily he didn't go straight away from me but I was already tracking him in Group AF which made things easier. I still almost lost him out of the frame and got a tighter shot than I'd like but did manage to capture a sharp eye and those wing colors I was after.
NiceWas out in the yard photographing Hummingbirds and Chickadees near sunset this evening when my wife pointed out a couple of Mule Deer bucks walking down the street. Caught up with them and captured a couple of images before they wandered off into the trees. I love seeing the bucks in velvet this time of year.

Don't rule out a tripod or monopod for BIF work. Yes, you lose some mobility with camera supports but the benefits when working with big heavy lenses often makes it worthwhile. I'll occasionally hand hold big lenses like my 200-400mm f/4 or even my 600mm f/4 but most of the time those lenses will be on some kind of support even when photographing flying birds.I am trying to not to use tripod or monopod, for BiF is my prime interest.
Nice shots, Hut!!I've been sort of tracking this buck around the desert for the past week or two. I like his non typical horns in velvet. Nice spread and height with lots of points. So after watching the owl for a bit I decided to hike over to the river in a spot that I think he comes across in the afternoons no deer but I caught the Great Blue Heron silhouette with a salmon colored sunset before heading back home. Always something to see.

Fantastic shots!!Walking for pleasure along the river in the freezing fog yesterday morning with A1, 200-600mm.
Some heavy crops mixed in here but it was a purdy morning thought I'd share.
