Walking the dog this morning when I noticed some dragonflies flying above a pond covered in duckweed and pulled out the 300mm f/4 and slapped a 2x TC on it. Got a few shots at a distance when this guy flew right up in front of me and hovered just long enough for a few captures. I love the way these Green Darners look like they're smiling.

The season at our local ski hill finished up last weekend but with such a big snow year it's time to skin up to the top on backcountry ski gear. Was just about at the summit when I came across this mule deer bedded down in the fresh snow. Wasn't carrying any serious camera gear so made do with my iPhone.

Took my new 180-600mm lens out for a walk this afternoon and came across a few subjects out on a chilly autumn day...

Came across this Grouse who ambled about on the ground a bit but I liked his strut up this old log.

Been a while since anyone posted on this thread but here's a couple of recent photos while out walking about coming across what I find.

Must be other folks taking their camera gear for a walk to see what they come across, feel free to post your images...

Was looking for waterfowl on some local ponds when I noticed this American Kestrel keeping an eye on me.

This Red Tailed Hawk was doing some low flying over the sagebrush backlit by the late afternoon sun.

Came across this little Uinta Ground Squirrel with a mouthful of what I guess is nesting material.

I have been watching this hawk's nest all Spring. The babies (eyas) started showing their heads recently and yesterday I caught an adult at the nest with them.

I live in an area with deer, sometimes mountain lions and foxes, and other small wildlife but when I see them I don't have my camera and the background is not good. I saw this set of twin fawns one day and was able to get my camera and get a few shots, not a great background but a cute moment between them.
