What’s your top five lenses

Sony 100-400 is my favorite "do-it-all" from landscape to macro to occasional wildlife (with 1.4X TC at times)
Tamron 28-75 f:2.8 G2 - just light and optically superb, great street photography lens
Sony 600 f:4 with or without 1.4x TC - it's either all in if I am on a dedicated trip / day out, or sitting in the closet.
Sony 20mm f:1.8 - stupidly good optically. Great complement to the 28-75 but obviously fairly specialized.

That's it, covers 99% of what I do. Sometimes I rent a Leica M and a 50mm Summilux for a week - and as much as I enjoy it, I love not having another $13k tied up in gear I rarely use.
I agree with a 100–400. That is one of the most phenomenal zoom lenses I have ever bought. There is not much you can’t do with that lens.

Olympus shooter here, lenses in order of use --

Olympus 60mm macro
Olympus 75-300mm
Olympus 100-400mm (sometimes with 1.4x TC)
Panasonic 45-150mm
Panasonic 12-32mm

If you want to know what they'd be in terms of FF just double the focal length.

Olympus has tempted me so many times, especially their macro lenses.

The 60mm is a superb lens, but apparently the 90mm is even better, will give 2x magnification, takes both the 1.4x and 2x TCs and is weather sealed. From my standpoint there are two strikes against it, the size and weight (large for a MFT macro lens) and the price (triple the price of the 60mm). The cameras have in-camera focus stacking which can often be very handy.

That in camera stacking is one of the features that is so tempting and from my understanding their 90mm macro lens accepts TC's

All F-mount:

500mm pf
300mm pf with and without 1.4tciii
16-80 f2.8-4, really a nice kit lens!
55mm f2.8 macro ai-s, love it.
Tamron 150-600 G2

Others I need to play with more:
85mm f1.8 non ai-s, need to have it converted.
200mm f4 ai-s not the macro unfortunately
35mm f2 ai-s
All the old lenses are almost unused, in perfect condition.

Two lenses I never seem to use:
28-300mm zoom
18-105mm zoom

Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4,5-5.6 (first Z glass I bought when I got my Z8 - with or without TC 1.4)
Nikon Z 70-200mm 2.8
Nikon Z 24-120mm f4
Nikon Z 14-24mm f2.8

Been shooting flowers. races and family get togethers lately. The 100-400 is better than I expected for flower close ups. 70-200 good for people action combined with head shots. When I was shooting general walk around and landscapes last fall, the order was 24-120, 14-24, 70-200

Before I sold my D810 and all my F mount gear my order wasa:
Nikon AF 24-70mm f2.8
Nikon AF 70-200mm f2.8
Nikon AF 14-24mm f2.8

Much more pleased with the native Z glass than my older AF lens.

Trying to do more animal/bird shooting this year. Probably will get the 600mm PF next.

Seems like a lot of us are very fond of the 100-400. I can't imagine not having that lens at this point.

The 100-400 is a great lense, especially the focal length is extremely usefull.

Those two were taken at 400 mm (sorry for the bad file quality, on mobile right now without access anything in a better resolution, but to looked at on a phone it should be good enough, I hope):

Really nice lighting on those. I have even did portraits with the 100–400 and it is awesome for that as well. It is definitely one of my favorite lenses and the image quality even with the 1.4 TC is incredible.

I watched an interview with the AP photographer last night who photographed the attempted assassination of Trump and he mentioned he hates the Sony 100-400. He uses it when he has to but I’d sure like to have heard why. For what I use it for it’s amazing.

For photo journalists maybe ? It depends on the genre, I would guess.

Personally, the 140GM almost lives on one of my camera bodies: landscape, wild-life, macro, sports, ... the sharpness is just fabulous while the zoom provides much versatility.

Yeah it’s my go to bug lens or when traveling for work and need a tele that fits in my laptop bag (Guru Gears laptop bag). It’s one thing I love about small bodies and the ability to remove a grip. I prefer and typically shoot with a grip but being able to go small and light is often handy.

Man the only thing I can even possibly think of I'd like to see in a version 2 would be less lens creep. Other than that the optics IMO would be a high bar to improve.

Mine is only a year old so haven’t noticed that but could see as it’s used. It’s a magnificent lens for its use case. It would be hard to get me to feel like I need to upgrade.

Regarding lens creep, I have observed many students forget to turn the lock ring or brutally twist it.

Another (minor) annoyance is lens collar screw, I have to order the tiny parts & replaced it myself.

Yeah it's tough to turn without releasing that to smooth.

Definitely better than I was expecting and I need many more shots to improve my use of it. The Z 70-200 has been better than my AF 70-200 - surprising good wide open…see attached sample.

For wildlife and action:
Z600 PF on a Z9
Z100-400 on my other Z9

For walk around
Z24-120 on my Zf

For Landscapes
Z14-30

For Macro
Z105

Asking this question to hear what your top five lenses are in order of most use.
1-Sony 100-400GM
2-Sony 90mm macro
3-Sony 600GM
4-Sony 70-200GMii
5-Sony 24-70GMii
My top pick, the Sony 100–400 is a lens I cannot imagine not having. It is just so versatile for so many things and absolutely razor sharp. It definitely gets the most used by far of any of my lenses. Not only is it great for still images, it is great for video as well.
For my list of favourites I would swap the 600 GM for the 400 GM f2.8 and the 90 macro for a 14mm. I do love the 90mm macro but use the 14mm more. I agree with what you say about the 100-400 : amazing lens

The 14mm 1.8 is a great lens as well. I don’t use it as much as I should. What do you use it mostly for?
