Z9 ship date

Being an NPS member most likely made all the difference. And good for you and the others that it does.I order a Z9 in October. A couple of days ago I was told I could pick it up on the 24th Dec.
Maybe paying for it up front or being a NPS member helps...
I'm not eligible for NPS because I make my money elsewhere. I have enough Nikon gear to qualify, more than twice over, and have worked as an assistant to a friend who is a professional. (She doesn't make much, but 100% of 'her" income is from her photo business.)
Nikon doesn't want me to be a "member." They just want my money!
Exactly. And in addition to the month, I'd like them to let me know the year as well. For all I read, this thing could drag out well into 2023 if there are a few new or repeat problems thrown into the process.
Knowing that, I could better manage my equipment stable inventory, which would be a win for me. It could be a win for Nikon as I'd likely purchase another one of their products if I knew the wait for the Z9 was long enough.
I agree with everything you’re saying. Even if they don’t know for sure when they’re going to ship they sure as hell know when they’re not going to ship. It’s really not asking much, especially for loyal customers.

The'll go to the NPS members first .. after all the agencies and newspapers have had their quota - think it's going to be a wait for most of us (especially for the FTZ II)

That will not use up many. Few newspaper/photographers these days and the agency folks have gone to mostly contract employees per online discussions.
I actually found the ftz2 and it should be delivered today from B&C photo in Nevada.

Yes they are in the wild.
Saw the info on the FTZII adaptor being "in the wild" I called B&H and they said they expect to ship my Z9 on 1-6-22 but they did not have stock of the FTZII or an anticipated ship date. So I went on line to Bedford and the showed it in stock, I placed the order and got a verification e mail. As soon as it shows shipped Monday or Tuesday I will call and cancel the ftz at B&H.

The deal for timing is not just the 10/28 but for B&H it is how many minutes after 8 AM eastern time as posted on your confirmation email is what someone needs to know.
I was surprised that I kept the order confirmation e mail ... apple mail is showing it as 10-28-21 at 8:36 PM nothing in the body giving any other time.
Do you recall the approximate time you actually placed the order? I suspect there may have been a delay in the email.

I do not know what you mean by internal .... there are no other dates
No I have not been able to remember numbers or anything with numbers as far back as I know. I was the kid whose mom had to put a piece of paper with my phone number and address in my pocket. And of course I have no way of knowing the accuracy of the guy at B&H ... that is the only date he gave me that I wrote down ... he had a date for the extra battery but I forgot to write that down and I can get by without it since I have 3 of the a models I use in D850 grip and a c model that was my extra for the D6 I sold to B&H

Nikon has limited production facilities. There is a world-wide shortage of computer chips of all kinds. There is a shortage of shipping containers and a limit of ships in places where electronic/photographic etc. products are made [although I assume the earliest shipments come by air, which has its own shipping? There are about 200 authorized dealers in the US, so maybe 1,000 world-wide. Who gets how many, and where are the customers located. On October 28th, Nikon had no idea how many people would spring forth with their credit cards to buy the camera. I presume that's the point it felt confident the camera was ready for prime time - at 3500 per month, that's about 7,000 they have about the ship - that's for billions of people on the planet.
One good tsunami, or even a misplaced cargo container or broken axle on a truck, and all your plans [and Nikons] will go on the shelf. Don't plan. When the cameras get here, they get here: Curiously, not before then. If I get mine by the end of February, I'll be happy, and my order was at 8:04 a.m. That will give me 2 weeks to RTFM before my next trip to shoot birds.

The date and time printed in the top right corner within the e-mail.
Everything within the e-mail should have been put there by B&H and would be from the B&H ordering system.
Why I will not cancel the FTZII order at B&H until I get the one Bedford is supposed to ship in the next 2 days
I photograph birds several days a week and my D 850 does just fine. My goal to have the Z9 was in early April so I have time to practice with it before I go to a photography symposium in West Yellowstone, Mt 5-9 to 5-14 (yes I had to look that up )
There is no date or time within the e mail. The only date and time I have is the date and time shown in the icloud mail heading which is there for all the emails from their system
This may have been a little silly of me, but on the basis of this thread I went ahead and ordered a FTZ ii from Nikon, because my B&H order email has an earlier time on Oct. 28 than Ken's and I certainly don't want to have a Z9 without an adapter. I have NO Z lenses. I know Nikon has it because their site won't accept Paypal (which I used) for preorders or backorders. The only downside other than feeling silly is the tax I would have avoided by using the B&H Payboo card.

My email was dated and received within minutes after I completed my order, very early on the 28th. If an order placed after 8:30 a.m. were to arrive 1/6/22, either B&H has gotten or will get a whole lot of cameras by that date. On the other hand, there's a reason not to accept anything B&H tells you over the phone about the availability of high demand cameras.
