Zemlin Photo now at B&H - Thank you BCG community

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

What else is on your radar to develop?
Going to see if my eyecup can work on Sony bodies. Hoods and caps for more lenses. The Sigma 120-300 is high on the list. I get pretty regular inquiries about hoods for smaller lenses, like 70-200, 24-120, etc. I need to explore some options there - and I have a few things that are designed that I haven't added to the lineup. Won't be hard to keep busy.

Great!
I sew the listing on B&H. Still missing the pictures though. Slowly but surely.

If this comes across as spam, please delete, but it is sincerely a thank you for all the support my little biz has had here at the BCG forums. This has been a stronghold of support for my products. The growth I've seen has far exceeded all my expectations, and I'm now moving into retail distribution. Today I got word from B&H that they are listing my complete line of lens caps and Nikon eyepieces. Sorta' feels like I'm hitting the big-time.

There have been so many customers over the years who mention BCG forums as the place they found out about my products. The support from this community has not been taken for granted. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I wouldn't be where I am without you folks.

My second full time employee is starting next week, and I hope to pass off most of the day-to-day grind to him so I can get back into the piece I do best - new product development.

We've outgrown the garage, so we'll soon be looking for a bigger & better home.

Happy New Year to all, and thanks again,

karl

Here is a vote for caps for the Nikkors 1.2s.

Karl, congratulations. I bought several lens caps from you in the Canon DSLR days and now a few hoods/caps/eye cups for the Nikon Z series. Excellent products and customer service. Wishing you continued success in this next step.

Such awesome news Karl but you deserve it!! Congratulations!!

Having a UK distributor would be great - Wex Photo & Video maybe?
I was thinking the same......

Though in regard to who might be worth opening discussions with perhaps Bob Rigby who currently imports a few USA companies products.

PS I am an Olympus/OM System user so surmise the lens caps & lenshoods depending the sizes would 'work'. Though anything that would be alternative to OEM (cost & availability?) and other cheaper Chinese copies that lack 'a certain something' by way of fit & quality......would be welcome:).

Oh, as a spectacles wearer I have never found replacement eye cups that work well as the 'eye relief ' is always compromised. So, have always stuck with the OEM on my early Pentaxs on my Canon gear (from 1989 to 2016) and since then the aforementioned Olympus & OM System. If you have any suggestions or ideas that would better for 'us' glasses wearers..... :)

The great comments are well deserved. I'm test packing for a trip. The solid lens cap for my 400 TC makes me a lot more confident that It will travel safely. The slightly shorter hood fits in my carry-on instead of packed in my checked baggage like the Nikon hood. Karl sells well designed accessories andpeace of mind when I travel.

Fantastic news, congratulations Karl!

Given the broad utility and design excellence of Zemlin's hoods, caps and eyepieces, the weak OEM alternatives, and the rapid and clever product innovation, Zemlin's offerings had all the markings of success - and opportunity for broader distribution. The basic principle in consumer goods is "revenue is proportional to shelf space". Expanding beyond a single online store into broader distribution (roughly the online equivalent of shelf space expansion at Walmart) is a BIG step for the firm. My hope is this doesn't distract from product innovation focus. Serving other retailers can be a distraction, and the lower margin/higher revenue equation of expanded distribution can break a company if not managed well. Hopefully Karl has this under control and can keep working his magic on expanding product offerings and out-innovating everyone else.

Fingers crossed for Zemlin's continued success!!
