Displaying your printed photos

I’m interested in knowing how you print, mount, and display your photographs. Do you print to paper and frame them, or print on metal, wood, or other materials and display them unmounted? If you mount and frame them, how do you select your frames, and do you mat them or just have the photo flush with the frame? What guidelines do you use in deciding how to print and display your work? If you have mounted images that you’re willing to share, please post them here.
I have a canon pro 100 and use an assortment of red river paper from metallic to matte. I print about 25 pictures of varying sizes that I mount on a 3x5 piece of plywood with sheet metal spray painted black screwed to the plywood. Every year I swap out these 20 or so pictures with current favorites. These are mounted on foamboard and I use magnets on the back of the pictures to easily mount and reposition pictures. I also print out larger pictures, up to 13x19 which I frame myself using frame molding. I like making my own frames though Michael’s sell relatively inexpensive ones that I may buy for gifts. I have a Logan Matt cutter and a frame jig to build these things. I swap pictures out yearly since I have lots of new pictures all the time and I like to see them. My screen saver on my computer runs my newer pictures. I like to print cards, bookmarks, and pictures for gifts as well. I sell nothing. It’s all a grand hobby.

I like borderless prints and I don't like frames and I hate glass. I use this method to get my prints on the wall. It's cheap and to my eye looks far better. It's also easy to make new prints for the wall so I rotate my pictures often.

As for paper I like to keep it simple and just use a couple of options. Baryta and Photo Smooth Pearl, both from Fotospeed. I'm not keen on gloss or matt papers so these are a lustre type of surface. AS with everything in life - Keep It Simple!

I have to say I'm really enjoying seeing people's home gallery setups!

I personally like mounting to foam core boards, I would however like an eco friendly alternative as the foam is non recyclable. Has anyone come across a good alternative in the UK?

Probably the most sound recyclable option would be to use no mount, a reusable frame, or if you want to mount the print directly on a solid substrate, use aluminum sheets. One of my preferred, reusable hanging systems is the Danish Posterhanger, https://posterhanger.com/. Sadly, most polymers are not easily or economically recycled so I tend to avoid them.

Imagine my surprise to find this thread had been resurrected! FWIW - here is the only other display area in our home.... The images cover 30 years of photography covering underwater, wildlife, travel, landscape and architectural genres!

You have so many wonderful images over many years. How do you decide how to rotate them? And what do you do with those which are rotated away?

To date, I have only re-arranged images once. I had about 3 new images printed and re-arrangement the walls to accommodate the new comers. Of course, that meant re-hanging all the piece.....but I have a patient and loving husband!
