Fall migration is about at its end. We still have some Yellow-rumped Warblers hanging around (tons of them this fall), but sadly I saw my first Dark-eyed Junco the other day, the harbingers of cold weather and desolation Some of you all love winter and choose to look at the positives, but personally.. ugh, I just can't. For me, time to set my alarm for mid-April when the first Spring migrants return and that excitement for May begins to build.

My first decent look at a duck this year, a Wood Duck. I rarely get to see ducks, let alone from a spot where I can get a decent photo of them. View attachment 99068
I've tried to be as up beat and positive about winter as I can possibly be, but each year it gets progressively more difficult to cope with. I miss the sorta-winters we had in Maryland/Virginia, at least there we had more species stay and it wasn't so dead... I think after the hurricane devastation, Florida may be off our list of places to move, and a long shot we may consider returning to the Virginia/Carolinas (they're still prone to hurricanes, but nowhere near as bad as FL).Winter photography can be fun too, just have to get out and brave the cold . I'll be scouting for a pair of Snowy Owls that have returned consistently every year starting November. I'm looking forward to it

I couldn't get my 600PF to focus with my Z6iii until I reset the camera. Now it's fine.-no blurry pics. You might want to save your settings to a card, then reset the camera to see if that works before sending off the lens. Just a thought.i bought the lens after renting one at my local shop and getting incredible results. Better than the 180-600 for sure. Purchased it brand new on sale and 0 percent for 2years. I was excited to take it to a 2 day expedition to cape may NJ. unfortunately all my images are soft And didn’t bring a backup. So sending it in for repair. looks like a bad copy or out of alignment. Does anyone have experience with a repair or does it need to be replaced for a good copy.
Argh already sent it. It was fine with the rental on the same camera by the wayI couldn't get my 600PF to focus with my Z6iii until I reset the camera. Now it's fine.-no blurry pics. This bear just wants the bear necessities. On Z8.
Nice! You used a much higher shutter speed than I did-looks sharper. Also, a different part of the world, according to the angle. Fun stuff.
Thanks for the comment, CJ. I did use my tripod for the image. Initially, I wanted to do the long exposure experiment to capture more details. However, the super full moon was so bright there was no way to shoot without blowing out. Thus high ss and low iso as the final resort. I always shoot moon handhold before. This one is interesting.Nice! You used a much higher shutter speed than I did-looks sharper. Also, a different part of the world, according to the angle. Fun stuff.
