Wow! Where in PA are you? I'm in the western part of the state, north of Pittsburgh and I'm rarely in need of subjects to photograph. Between the nesting Bald Eagles and Ospreys, in the spring and early summer we get lots of migrating birds and ducks passing through. Between Lake Pymatuning, Lake Wilhelm, Geneva Swamps, and the Volant Strip, along with the many Gamelands I'm very busy all summer. Winter too.

I love my 600PF and post a lot of my photos on Facebook, on my own page and many group pages.
I’m in central PA just north of Harrisburg. I have a few favorite spots but it does not compare with Florida.

Some days, if I don't have the energy or the weather isn't cooperating, or I just have the grandkids over and can't take a road trip, I'll photograph what I find in my own garden. I'm not out to get the most fabulous photo, but I get what pleases me. And, isn't that all that really matters? From my garden this afternoon. A Painted Lady Butterfly, the first I've seen this season. So many butterflies have been so scarce these days, perhaps because of the heat and dryness that we've been experiencing here in western PA. This one made me smile.

Beautiful image, love the color harmony and composition.

Gorgeous!

Fall migration is definitely in full spring. I returned to the spot where I shot the Overbird (in my last post) a few days ago, and this time ran into a nice flock of warblers. Seeing and ID'ing them is one thing, getting a usable shot is another. This is an obliging female Black & White Warbler, a warbler which I find notoriously difficult to capture well.

I'm a little nervous about posting my bird/wildlife images given all the fantastic shooters on this board. I'm a simple portrait/event photographer and videographer and came here to learn from some incredible shooters.

Here's my contribution. I shot this at Conowingo Dam in Maryland with my 600 PF, which I got for fun shooting when I'm away from my locations, and to do something while my wife is getting her great nature shots. The 600 is light enough to be easy to carry and shoot for extended periods of time even for an old guy, and yeah, the 6.3 isn't wonderful, but I'd rather not put over ten grand in glass that's not going to pay for itself. On the whole, I really enjoy using this lens.

Great shot!

Have been fortunate to have the Northern Waterthrush visiting on its way back south. I also get to see them in the Spring as well, they always visit the muddy creek behind my house. Tough birds to capture in clear view, as they prefer staying low to the ground in dense vegetation.

While out birding today, had a nosy neighbor call the police and report a "suspicious looking person along the tree line with a duffle bag... no, they don't have a gun that I can see, but hurry!" I always expected this to happen someday, and welp, it finally did!

Crazy. Hopefully the situation was quickly resolved.
Yeah, it was no big deal after I explained what I was doing. I'd met this police officer before at a community function, so had decent rapport with him. Turns out he used to shoot a Canon 7D back when he didn't have to work crazy hours on the force.

It's a very friendly community, we all say hi and talk to one another, so it's kinda crappy it happened. I regularly am out birding, and always explain what I'm up to, show my work, etc, but you just never know...

Glad it all turned out well.
