Fair enough but is Z8 the only thing you are not talking about? LoLI'm back but I'm not talking about anything Z8 related.![]()
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

ooh, i like your wishMy wish, probably forlorn, is that the hidden 8 in the promotion stands for Expeed 8. Possibly built on 3 nm process with emphasis on neural cores. This is essential to keep cameras relevant.
With the Red case out of the way, they can also use the Tico Raw format in still capture and pre capture. Although lossy, it is still a very nice 12 bit file. The Z9 should be able to do 40 fps using this file format with endless buffer and Expeed 8 much more.
I think that for the first time in history you are left speechless!

Good to hear you’re back.I'm back but I'm not talking about anything Z8 related.![]()
By Tico raw do u mean the existing HE and HE* formats? Or does Tico also have more raw options that Nikon isn’t using, that are actually 12bit? HE and HE* are already 14bit.My wish, probably forlorn, is that the hidden 8 in the promotion stands for Expeed 8. Possibly built on 3 nm process with emphasis on neural cores. I mean NRaw video codec. It's 12 bit and already runs in the Z9 at 60fps in the slight 8.3k crop.By Tico raw do u mean the existing HE and HE* formats? Or does Tico also have more raw options that Nikon isn’t using, that are actually 12bit? HE and HE* are already 14bit.
anyone want to place bets if we'll see a fw update for the z9 as part of this announcement, and if we do, what the scope will be?
If true, they are going up against the 7rV/A1 and R5, which are the best selling pro bodies. If ALL they do is have the Z9 capabilities and not overheat, they'll gain converts. They don't give a rat's ass about "competing" with the Z9, they win either way. Z9 x2 here, and I'll absolutely get a Z8 or two.All of the rumors point to specs for the rumored Z8 at being almost the same as the Z9. I just can't see this big marketing production when all that is going to be released is a camera very similar to the Z9 just a little smaller. Why the big hype and all the wait it doesn't make sense. I think we will see a significant new firmware release for the Z9 and announce the Z8, more of a "the Z9 is now even better and you can get it in two sizes" kind of announcement.
Owning a Z9 that is my hope!
Looking forward to the video post embargo!!I'm back but I'm not talking about anything Z8 related.![]()
I’m pretty much in the same place you are. I have two Z9s and will likely pre-order a Z8 if it has the same capabilities and ergonomics (less the vertical grip) as the Z9, but weighs less. I do a lot of remote travel with flights on small float/bush planes and would benefit from a reduction in weight to one of my camera bodies. Would make the decisions as to what to leave at home a bit easier! If true, they are going up against the 7rV/A1 and R5, which are the best selling pro bodies. You didn’t exclude talking about anything 200-600/180-600 related. So how is Nikon’s new super tele zoom? Worth the wait? HahaI'm back but I'm not talking about anything Z8 related.![]()

It's too much fun in the days leading up to any announcementLol, everyone is reading too much into my comments.
Less moving parts in MILC so it's going to be cheaper, right? $3999?as an aside, i got curious about how much the d850 was introduced for so i googled it up. interestingly, D850 introduced at $3,299.95 USD but.... if you adjust for inflation that makes it.... $4,058.94
i was just thinking:Less moving parts in MILC so it's going to be cheaper, right? $3999?
I tend to agree with you that it's sounding an awful lot like an MILC version of the D850. If it is priced similarly that will be awesome.i was just thinking:
1) i think this is a d850 replacement (a do it all prosumer camera)
2) when folks think about the d850, they think it's a $2500 (or $3000) camera, but forget it was introduced as a $4,000 (adjusted) camera
so if it does come in at around $4k, that's almost exactly how the d850 started it's lifecycle
I really hope it is a mini version of A1I tend to agree with you that it's sounding an awful lot like an MILC version of the D850. If it is priced similarly that will be awesome.
