Great opportunity to share our encounters with wildlife from 2024. Steve did this last year and like others, should have prepared, but didn’t. Think he said to limit it to 5-7 which was hard to do. I browsed my library and recall these as special in some way. Hope you enjoy seeing these as much as I had catching the moment….
……First up: I was watching eagles cruise the creek on March 30th when a house finch landed in a bush behind me. The bird was gathering nest materials. I got 3-4 shots before he flew away. Later when I transferred the card I realized this finch had only one leg…..Nature finds a way..

The intricacies of spider webs has always been fascinating for me. When you catch the owner home and the web is backlit drama awaits.. October 5/24.

Anticipating a bird’s launch has been challenging prior to “pre-capture” capabilities. I caught this heron at liftoff on April 9/24 after several failures. I really need to figure out this pre-capture thing…It’s no doubt in Steve’s Z8/9 guide....Reduced resolution for posting these…

A blue jay is suppose to be blue, right? I posted this “blue” jay July 15/24 and one visitor to the thread suggested editing the image in B&W. Seriously? It worked for me.. Meet the “gray jay”!

Bugs, insects and butterflies are enjoyable and there is always lots of action. This is a zebra swallow tail butterfly drawing nectar from a flower in our garden Sept 8/24

This rain soaked eagle reminded me of an old phrase “mad as a wet hen”. Not a happy bird… August 8/24
