What’s your three non camera gear purchases for photography?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

1) A color printer because it‘s personally rewarding to see my photos on my walls… and my wife is very encouraging of that
2) A nice steel tool chest to house my gear, the printer, printing papers and more
3) An R1250 GSA, because getting there should be just as fun as shooting
Your number 3 - better than a boat (not the hut!)

My humble picks:
1. Walkstool (portable stool for long waits for wildlife)
2. Gitzo monopod with a KES/Arca head
3. A crazed collection of bags, slings and cases...pull out what I need for any given photo situation

** If we have a "Best of" award in this thread, I vote for @Scooter 's post #85 and his muskrat hut. Amazing for both creativity and effectiveness! **
Now I want to see some photos obtained from that floating blind!

I agree with the muskrat hut lol. That thing is awesome

My favorite choices in accessory gear are:

1. Blackrapid over the shoulder straps. These allowed me to carry a z9 with long lens comfortably over long hikes

2. Peak Design camera straps Camera straps sometimes get in the way. The Peak Designs can be attached or detached safely and quickly making them much more useful.

3. Wimberley gimbal head. For working with long lenses a well-adjusted gimbal head makes shooting from a tripod smooth and easy. There are a lot of good ones out there but the classic Wimberley model is a sheer pleasure to work with.

Adobe LR/PS subscription. Photo Workshops including Steves’s Costa Rica workshop. Workshops/classes put on by Arizona Highways Photoscapes (now defunct) on topics such as LR, Macro, use of the Windy app, etc.

1. Epson ET 8550 printer. Prints A3+. The inks are cheap and the print quality excellent. Check the reviews. It aint finished until you hold a print in your hands.
2. My macro cage. Opened up a whole new world and many new photography challenges. (Great therapy after Covid and hip replacement). Can not wait to get back to birds and astro.
3. Novoflex Castel M focusing rail to complement (2) above.

Airboat, E-Trike and 4 wheel drive pickup. Photography is a very expensive hobby.

My favorite is a used Baby Jogger with three 16 inch tires with tubes that I bought for $5.00 at a church thrift shop when I was 75. I am now 80 and its value to me has increased as it helps me lug my stuff when I am out in the field, on pavement or on sand. The low price reflected that its seat was torn and not usable for another child. It so happens that my guragear camera bag fits the torn seat snugly. If you see one snap it up and save it until you need it. See attached pics.
