Makes sound sense. All these features for the Z9 are entirely achievable

I am with you. I will wait for the Z9 to see if Nikon can deliver autofocus on par or better than SONY and CANON deliver late this year. Nikon needs to surpass autofocus and tracking that both SONY and Canon deliver today . By the Z9 introduction Nikon will have had close to four years to implement decent AF and AF tracking on a mirrorless action camera. If they cannot get it right then it just isn't going to happen. I am not optimistic, just hopeful.I'm no longer interested in a DSLR of any brand. The sensory feedback dimension of WYSIWYG exposure would be too hard to give up. There's also sensor stabilization, not needing to use reading glasses to read the menus, no need for AFMA, and silent shooting while using the viewfinder.
I'll be interesting one the specs are leaked and then again once someone get's their hands on one. At this stage I'll sell my D500 & D850, keep my D5 and add the Z9. The only Z lens I'll probably grab in the first couple of months may be the 200-600 as my walk about combo....
Bold statement! I'm excited to see what this flagship model brings to the table. I'm not planning on buying a Z9, or any of the 5-figure lenses, but I'm really looking forward to the 200-600 Z.This camera (Z 9) will become a brand-new camera that can provide an imaging experience that surpasses all the SLR or mirrorless cameras that Nikon has launched so far.
Can you imagine what the price will be?Bold statement! I'm excited to see what this flagship model brings to the table. I'm not planning on buying a Z9, or any of the 5-figure lenses, but I'm really looking forward to the 200-600 Z.
I'm guessing they'll have to cap the price to something similar to the D6 as I think it will be hard for them to introduce a mirrorless flagship camera that is dramatically more expensive than their fairly recent DSLR flagship camera. That and the D6 price is pretty close to the Sony A1 price so it will be hard for Nikon to make a dent in the high end mirrorless market if they come in at a substantially higher price point. Can you imagine what the price will be?
The 200-600? If it's a non-S lens (which so far it is), and based on the price of the 200-500 F... my guess is it'll be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1600-$1800.Can you imagine what the price will be?
I think you're probably closer to the mark than I am, good points. Whatever price tag, it's an instant pre-order from me200-600 will be targeted at the excellent sony lens...which costs $2k. The target is not likely the nikon 200-500, the new lens will have to perform a lot better, and will be more costly as a result.
I am talking about the 200-600mm Z lens. I imagine it will go from $6,700 to $11,000 judging by the equivalents in the G lenses.I'm guessing they'll have to cap the price to something similar to the D6 as I think it will be hard for them to introduce a mirrorless flagship camera that is dramatically more expensive than their fairly recent DSLR flagship camera. Just guessing and I could be very wrong about that but from a marketing standpoint I think the high end price is more or less set for the near future by Nikon's own flagship DSLR and Sony's flagship MILC.
Fair enough. I suspect as others have said it will be priced to be competitive with Sony's offering especially if it is delivered as an internal focus lens (in which case I'll buy one).I am talking about the 200-600mm Z lens. I'm confused - the equivalent Sony 200-600 is right around $2000. Sony's 600 f/4 prime is around $13k, which I expect Nikon's 600 f/4 to be as well.I am talking about the 200-600mm Z lens. I imagine it will go from $6,700 to $11,000 judging by the equivalents in the G lenses.
I guess, like you, I assumed Nikon's 200-600mm would be positioned against Sony's 200-600mm f/5.6-f/6.3 lens but I suppose Nikon could release something similar to their 180-400mm f/4 F mount lens for the Z series in which case it would be a much bigger and more expensive lens.I'm confused - the equivalent Sony 200-600 is right around $2000. Excerpts about Z9 with machine translate:
Media: For the mirrorless camera system, many customers are waiting for Nikon's super telephoto lens. When does Nikon plan to launch a Z-mount super telephoto lens?
Matsubara: We understand that many users are looking forward to Nikon's (Z mount) super telephoto lens, so we are currently developing it. At the same time as the official release of the "Z 9" next this year, we hope to introduce the first ultra-telephoto lens of the Z series to you at the same time , and we are preparing for this. With "Z 9" as the prelude, we have prepared a new lens that can maximize the performance of the Z series. Please look forward to it.
Media: Can you talk about Nikon China's performance in 2020 and the first quarter of this year?
Matsubara: During the period affected by the new crown epidemic-especially from January to March 2020, the market environment was in a continuous and more severe state. At that time, Nikon China's performance once declined, but then as the epidemic situation progressed Improved, performance is also continuing to recover smoothly. After August 2020, the three main mirrorless models of Nikon Z 5, Z 7Ⅱ, and Z 6Ⅱ have been launched one after another, greatly expanding the product line of Nikon mirrorless products, and the performance of full-frame cameras is therefore higher Improved.
In terms of lenses, Nikon’s Z-mount "big three-dimensional" lens has also been assembled, and we have also launched the "Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S" lens that can realize new performance possibilities, greatly expanding the product line. And this year, we plan to launch the flagship mirrorless camera Z 9 and Z series super telescopic lenses that users expect, and we also hope to further enhance our performance.
Media: Nikon has many classic products in the history. In terms of the character of the camera, is there any camera that is most similar to the Z 9?
Matsubara : This camera (Z 9) will become a brand-new camera that can provide an imaging experience that surpasses all the SLR or mirrorless cameras that Nikon has launched so far.
Media: We all know that the significance of a flagship phone is not just as a product for sale, but also as a symbol of the strength of the camera system. At this point, what do you think are the three most important features of the Nikon Z 9?
Matsubara: Please look forward to the official release of the specific product features, but what can be revealed today is that in order to present the next-generation image performance, the new image processor on this camera will greatly enhance the autofocus performance . In addition, this camera's newly adopted stacked CMOS sensor and support for 8K video recording (also its characteristics). In addition, we are also preparing to bring more surprises to users and provide a brand new video shooting experience.
I guess, like you, I assumed Nikon's 200-600mm would be positioned against Sony's 200-600mm f/5.6-f/6.3 lens but I suppose Nikon could release something similar to their 180-400mm f/4 F mount lens for the Z series in which case it would be a much bigger and more expensive lens.
I'd still bet on a 200-600mm in the f/5.6 to f/6.3 range and at a price point near $2K but I guess we don't really know what sort of 200-600mm lens Nikon is developing.
