[/QUOTE]Ira, I think this is a Hairy Woodpecker, mainly because of the large bill and unmarked white outer tail feathers. Probably a juvenile because of the crown (red but looks yellow?) being forward.

Agreed. I also think the bill is a bit long for a Downy. More likely a Nuttall's.
