Nikon Z8 - Service Advisory

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

You will need access to a printer anyway. The form simply prefills all the data to be printed and enclosed.

I had to type both the Zip and Phone number rather than use autofill.
Mine was the page that they gave me to fill out my info after they told me my camera was affected. It didn't look like an actual form. I couldn't hit the "Next" button because of the zipcode and phone number problem. I did not use autofill.

I have printers and all kinds of technical stuff. I did get rid of a lot of networked printers and computers when I quit working and moved. Geek-girl I was.

I use DashLane as a password manager, and it autofills my zip code but not my phone number.

Mine is also affected. When I tried to print the shipping label, the instructions state to select 'Z9' as to product, but that is NOT an option on the drop down list. Can't print the label without that line completed. Grrr. Talked to Nikon support, they said no one else had reported this problem. The Z9 option did not show up on Safari or Chrome. They will send me a shipping label. ... sometime? -- Just saw andrewwx's comment about same issue.

I talked to Nikon - they said choose Z7
Are you sure that is official? I talked to a Nikon rep, too and they said “Maybe” pick Z7. I wasn’t to keen on sending my Z8 out on a maybe… I sent an email to NPS, too asking about it but no response.

I have the no Z9 option problem, too. I just don’t want to take a chance on sending this out to the wrong place.

It's kind of a pain ... mostly the pain of not having the Z8 in hand while I continue to progress through Steve's setup guide. I only hope it is returned within a week or two. The most painful part was paying UPS $36+ for the box and packaging materials. Wow!

It is just for the shipping label - Make sure you print out and include the packing info page that is what is really important.

I sent mine off, drop station 4 easy miles north of me. I put in all as requested, and the box I used had a shipment label on it, so I tossed it in showing my address that way too. Easy. I suggest all the first batch Z8 will be requested to return.
I had zero concerns with the camera. I use the Z9 most anyway. Add - My biggest concern is being home when it returns, I live alone and am a busy 70 y/o man. (y)

Z9 worked for me earlier today...latest MacOS and Safari.

They can't even get a recall worked out. I think I'll wait. None of my lenses are falling off and maybe they'll fix all the stupid problems with their recall effort. I mean really, their page doesn't work, printing the label doesn't work, how can I really trust they'll fix the camera properly?

I assure you the camera techs aren't responsible for website design :)
No, they aren't but the company as a whole is looking bad. I'm kicking myself now for buying first production, because I was so excited about the Z8. I've always waited in the past. I think I'll regret this. I haven't even paid for this camera yet, and now I have to pay more for them to fix their mistake. Not happy, not happy at all.

My Z8 needs the service too. Annoying.

But I don’t think we have to pay for the service. The Nikon website has a UPS shipping label for it (I understand you’ve not be able to get the website to work); states the repair is free; and says Nikon will ship it back to you for free.

How can you find out how close a repair center is? By printing off the label (if you can)?
There are two...Look here

But, I have to pay to pack it up safely in a box to send back to them. I've heard one person say it cost them $36+ to get UPS to pack it up. Ok, $36 is not a lot of money, but I'm in the process of paying $4,000 for this camera so I can pay another $36 to get their manufacturing issue fixed. I think it shouldn't cost anyone anything. I fear that if I pack it up and something happens shipping it back and it gets damaged, I'll be out $4,000.

sorry that happened to you. i know it’s a bummer. i didn’t have proper materials either. it does look like pricing varies

at least they are taking responsibility and trying to make it right proactively instead of letting it leave you in the lurch at some random point
